Reimagining Mellow Home's e-commerce after a full rebrand.

Live site: Mellow home

The Problem

Mellow Home, the subsidiary of global sleep giant Zinus, went through a massive rebrand to differentiate in the market and needed their digital experience to match their new brand story.

Mellow Home was rebranded to be more warm, cozy, soft, and 'mellow'. The sleep industry all fall into a similar sea of sameness, many competing websites don't authentically tell their brand story, and Mellow needed to stand out. The kicker? We had a very quick turnaround to craft the strategy and design the core pages.

the opportunity?

To bring Mellow Home's new brand story to life, differentiate them in the market and appear as a boutique Zinus subsidiary.

Research, Strategy & Wireframing

We kicked off with competitor analysis to see how top home and mattress brands were positioning themselves and find ways Mellow could stand out. Using those insights, I led the wireframe strategy, focusing on easy navigation, storytelling, and showcasing the products. We worked fast, mixing fresh ideas with industry standards to create a solid framework under tight deadlines.

Design Phase

Once the wireframes were approved, I worked closely with another designer to make sure the design follow the brand’s new guidelines and wireframe strategy. The focus was on creating a calming, cohesive visual style—soothing colors, modern typography, and messaging that would elevate Mellow’s calm and warm personality.

Key Findings/Moments that impacted the project

All the mattress and home brands Mellow shared had pretty much the same approach, which felt a bit lackluster with cluttered digital experiences. Mellow wanted to stand out from that.
Mellow Home had internal developers they wanted to implement the website, but the challenge was they wanted to build within a Shopify theme while asking us to push the limits of that theme with custom components.

what we wanted our users to understand, feel and do

Understand

We wanted users to know that Mellow makes its own products, offers great benefits, and sells more than just mattresses.

Feel

We wanted users to feel the brand’s warmth, softness, and coziness through visuals and product imagery.

Do

We wanted to turn viewers into customers by guiding them through the product pages to make a purchase.

Deliverable: the landing page

Mellow Home got the new website and page templates to launch in 2025. We prioritized desktop since most traffic came from there due to big purchase decisions, but we made sure the mobile experience was just as smooth. Meet Mellow.
